APTA AdWheel Award for Print Marketing and Communications
TriMet was awarded First Place for the "WES Spinner Brochure", for public transportation systems with more than 30 million passenger trips annually. This award recognizes public transportation systems and APTA business members for excellence in advertising, communications, marketing, and promotion.
Compass Award of Merit
The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association awarded the Compass Award of Merit to TriMet for TriMet's "TriMet TV", New Media for 2008.

The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association awarded the Compass Award of Merit to TriMet for TriMet's "Commute Options", Direct Marketing Campaign for 2007.
Silver Level Sponsor Award
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) 2007 Western District Meeting gave TriMet a Silver Level Sponsor Award, by the Local Arrangements Committee, for support of ITE's meeting of July 15-18, 2007.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Oregon and Washington Affiliatve) recognized TriMet's contribution of outstanding support for 2006.

The American Public Transportation Association awarded TriMet the AdWheel Award for the Electronic-Internet Homepage for 2006.
APTA AdWheel Award for Campaigns
The American Public Transportation Association awarded TriMet the AdWheel Award for the promotion: "Off Peak FIND Campaign" for 2006.
Special Olympics Oregon Athletes Award
This award was given for benefitting the "The Bite of Oregon" in August 2006.

Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
This was a special Diamond Sponsor recognition award. May 2006.
Washington County Public Health Recognition Award
This award recognized TriMet's contributions to the viability and ongoing success of public health within Washington County. April 2006.
City of Portland Pollution Control Award
This award spaned 2001 through 2005. It recognized the TriMet's Bus Maintenance Department for five consecutive years of compliance with the City of Portland's pretreatment discharge to the sewer system.

Arbor Day Foundation Lady Bird Johnson Award, 2005: Interstate MAX Yellow Line
TriMet's Interstate MAX Yellow Line received the National Arbor Day Foundation's 2005 Lady Bird Johnson Award for exemplary leadership in roadside beautification. The Lady Bird Johnson Award, named after the former First Lady whose work and commitment made the highways and byways of America more beautiful, is presented to those whose work sets a worthy example.
2004
WTS Project of the Year Award, 2004: Interstate MAX
The Portland Chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar honored the Interstate MAX Yellow Line Project with its 2004 Project of the Year award. The project was commended for its multi-agency coordination and support, public/private partnership, community involvement efforts, unique design and funding processes, and women in meaningful leadership roles.
ACEC Project of the Year Award, 2004: Interstate MAX
The Interstate MAX Yellow Line project was awarded the American Council of Engineering Companies (Oregon Chapter) 2004 Project of the Year Award.
APTA Innovation Award, 2004
The American Public Transportation Association selected TriMet to receive its 2004 Innovation Award in recognition of TriMet's Productivity Improvement Process (PIP). PIP was recognized for its ability to engage frontline employees in finding ways to improve agency efficiency, improve the work environment and save money.
APTA Rail Roadeo 2nd Place, 2004
TriMet's rail operator team of Corky Hemmingsen and Mike DeCriscio finished second at the 2004 American Public Transportation Association Rail Roadeo in Miami behind the host Miami-Dade County Transit team. Rail systems from 16 North American cities competed.
WTS Woman of the Year, 2004: Ann Becklund
TriMet's Community Relations Director Ann Becklund was honored by the Portland Chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar for her significant contributions to the region's transportation arena.
ITE Project of the Year Award, 2004: Interstate MAX
TriMet's Interstate MAX project was awarded "Project of the Year" by the Oregon Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
LDTMA Annual Citizen's Award, 2004
TriMet was singled out by the Lloyd District Transportation Management Association for its outstanding contribution to transportation management in the Lloyd District.
SAME Annual Design Excellence Award, 2004: Interstate MAX
TriMet's Interstate MAX Yellow Line Expo segment design/build project was selected as the recipient of the Society of American Military Engineers Portland Post's highest award for 2004.
Gallery of Superb Printing Gold Award, 2004
TriMet's 2003 limited-edition art poster series was awarded a "Gold" in the Poster Division, United States by the International Association for Printing House Craftsmen. The award represents the best in printing quality and science. Gold winners from each division go on to worldwide competition.

TriMet received the Federal Transit Administration's Top Transit Traveler Information Website award for content, navigation, information organization and site context.

WTA Partner of the Year Award, 2003
TriMet was named "Partner of the Year" by the Westside Transportation Alliance for assisting the WTA and Westside employers in establishing and promoting travel options.
US Conference of Mayors Excellence Award, 2003: Airport MAX
TriMet's Airport MAX project was one of two projects to receive a national "Excellence Award" based on the criteria of improvement in delivery of services, sustainability, cost savings, creativity of approach, benefits to both public and private partners, economic and business benefits, and measurable results.
AGC SIR Award, 2003: Interstate MAX
TriMet's Interstate MAX project was selected as the 2003 SIR (Skill, Integrity and Responsibility) Award project by the Oregon-Columbia Chapter of the Associated General Contractors "for its commitment to local, small contractors, its eye on the environment and its focus on the community spirit and needs."
APTA Bus Roadeo, 3rd Place, 2003
TriMet's maintenance team of Vic Kuss, Scott Mickelson and Ronald Nussbaum finished third overall at the American Public Transportation Association's International Bus Roadeo held on September 27, 2003, in Salt Lake City. The team won first-place finishes in Cummins engine/Voith transmission and Thermo King air conditioning competitions.
ITSA Finalist Award, 2003
TriMet was selected as a finalist by the Intelligent Transportation Society of America for its Transit Signal Priority project, a system which allows buses running late to "hold" a green light at intersections to help them get back on schedule.

APWA Project of the Year Award, 2002: Airport MAX
Awarded by the American Public Works Association in the category of "Transportation—more than $10 Million" to TriMet for the Airport MAX project.

TriMet received the Federal Transit Administration's Top Transit Traveler Information Website award for content, navigation, information organization and site context.
POVA President's Award, 2002: Airport MAX
TriMet was recognized by the Portland Oregon Visitor's Association with the President's Award for the Airport MAX project.
CEC Engineering Excellence Grand Award, 2002: Airport MAX
Awarded by the Consulting Engineers Council of Oregon to TriMet and Bechtel Infrastructure Corporation for the Airport MAX project.
ESRI Special Achievement in Geographic Information Systems Award, 2002
Awarded by the ESRI User Conference, which recognizes extraordinary accomplishments by GIS users around the world, for our system that manages work requests for bus stops and amenities, displays photos of bus shelters, and enables us to see which stops have higher boardings and need shelters.

WTS Project of the Year, 2001: Airport MAX
Awarded by the Portland chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar for TriMet's successful public/private partnership and interagency collaboration on Airport MAX, which produced a vital regional link to PDX, incorporating significant development opportunities into an innovative design/build project.
2000
Presidential Design Award for Design Excellence, 2000: Westside MAX
Awarded by President Clinton for the Westside MAX project, this award recognizes projects representing the highest standards of federal design in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, historic preservation, interior design, engineering and graphic design.
NEA Federal Design Achievement Award, 2000: Westside MAX
Awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts for the Westside MAX project, this award is given for the highest levels of achievement in the federal sector in all design disciplines.
DOT Design for Transportation National Award, 2000: Westside MAX
The United States Department of Transportation presented this award to TriMet for the Westside MAX project for highest quality of design based on international standards. "This project compellingly illustrates what is possible when architects, artists, engineers and contractors, along with government officials, collaborate and aspire to the highest of design standards," the jurors said.

Awarded by the Consulting Engineers Council of Oregon to TriMet and Parsons Brinckerhoff for the Westside MAX project.
1998
FTA Livable Communities Transit Competition, 1st Place, 1998: Westside MAX
Portland's innovative approach to integrating transportation and land-use planning earned Westside MAX the First Place award in the Livable Communities Transit Competition from the Federal Transit Administration in 1999. The award recognized TriMet's cooperative approach to building a light rail system that would improve transit service for existing cities and become the heart of new communities being built around MAX stations.
APTA AdWheel Internet Home Page Award, 1998
TriMet's website received first place in the Internet Home Page category of the American Public Transportation Association's AdWheel awards. The awards recognize outstanding advertising, marketing and communications efforts in the transit industry.
AIA Honor Award, 1998: Westside MAX
Awarded by the Portland chapter of the American Institute of Architects to Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership and TriMet, Metro and the City of Portland for the professional excellence manifested by the architects in the design of the Goose Hollow, Washington Park and Sunset MAX stations.

AEG Outstanding Environmental and Engineering Geologic Project, 1997: Westside MAX
Awarded by the Association of Engineering Geologists to TriMet for the Westside Light Rail Tunnel Project.
CEC Engineering Excellence Project of the Year Award, 1997: Westside MAX
Awarded by the Consulting Engineers Council of Oregon to TriMet, Landslide Technology and Parsons Brinckerhoff for the shear pile wall at Washington Park MAX Station.
1996
APTA Rail Roadeo, 1st Place, 1996
TriMet's Operator Team took first place honors at the International Rail Roadeo in Atlanta, Georgia, while the Maintainer Team took second place in competition. TriMet placed first overall.
1991
AIA Citation for Excellence in Urban Design, 1991
The American Institute of Architects recognized TriMet's foresight and cooperation in planning, and the design of a system that serves as a model for other cities to replicate in the use of light rail transit to achieve urban design goals.
1989
APTA Outstanding Public Transportation System Award, 1989
The American Public Transportation Association recognized TriMet as one of the nation's best transit systems, awarding TriMet with its highest honor for outstanding service and leadership in providing public transportation.
1986
Portland Historic Landmark Commission Award, 1986: Eastside MAX
The Portland Historic Landmark Commission honored TriMet for "a sensitive alignment design for downtown light rail transit which recognizes, complements and enriches the historic districts through which it passes and serves."
