About STFAC
Background
The Special Transportation Fund Advisory Committee (STFAC) is appointed by the TriMet Board of Directors to advise TriMet by making informed recommendations about the distribution of grants funded by the State of Oregon's Special Transportation Fund (STF) and the Federal Transit Administration's New Freedom Program. The tri-county area receives about $6 million a year in grants from the state Special Transportation Fund program and about $400,000 a year in funds from the Federal New Freedom Program to provide transportation services to elders and people with disabilities. More than one-half of the STFAC is comprised of elders and/or people with disabilities representing geographic diversity in the tri-county area.
The members include the TriMet Committee on Accessible Transportation (CAT); staff representing the County Aging and Disability agencies; TriMet; a small transit systems representative; a rural transit systems representative; Ride Connection, which is a network of 30 service providers delivering transportation for elderly and disabled riders; and consumers who are elderly or disabled representing county urban and rural areas.
Tri-County Elderly and Disabled Plan
The STFAC also helps develop the Tri-County Elderly and Disabled Transportation Plan (EDTP). The STFAC met monthly over a six-month period between January 2006 and June 2006 to review the progress made since the 2001 Elderly and Disabled Transportation Plan, to revise elements of the previous plan to reflect current circumstances, and to create new programs. The plan set forth the priorities for new elderly and disabled trasnportation services.
The final EDTP (1.4MB, PDF) is now available.
